1. No source, no claim
Every scientific statement is stored as an individual claim linked to at least one primary source — a PubMed-indexed publication, a ClinicalTrials.gov record, or an FDA document. Claims without a source are not published.
2. Evidence levels
Each claim carries the strongest level of evidence its sources support:
- Approved label. The claim comes from FDA-approved prescribing information for that product and indication.
- Controlled human trials. Supported by randomized or otherwise controlled studies in people.
- Early human. Small, uncontrolled or early-phase human studies, case series or pilot data.
- Animal. Studies in animals only. Many effects seen in animals do not occur in people.
- In vitro. Cells or tissue in the laboratory only.
Evidence level and regulatory status are shown separately. A compound can have strong animal data and no approval, or an approval for one use and no evidence for another.
3. Review before publishing
Drafts — including any drafted with AI assistance — are reviewed by a person before publishing. Every change to scientific content is logged, and each profile shows the date it was last verified.
4. What we will not publish
Dosing protocols or recommendations for unapproved compounds, self-administration instructions, vendor recommendations, affiliate links, or sponsored content of any kind.
5. Corrections
When we find an error, we correct it and record the change in the page's public changelog.
