How do people evaluate scientific claims?

Ask six questions: in what, how many, compared with what, by whom, repeated by others, and who benefits?

In what? Cells, animals or people.

How many? Ten people tells you much less than ten thousand.

Compared with what? Without a comparison group (ideally a placebo), it's hard to know whether the peptide did anything.

By whom, and has anyone else found the same thing? One study is a starting point, not an answer.

Who benefits from you believing it? Follow the money.

If a source can't point you to the original study, treat the claim as unverified.
